Library Catalogs - Search ACORN, the catalog for the Vanderbilt libraries, or other library catalogs.

ACORN - Use for finding a book or other items in one of the Vanderbilt libraries.

ACORN is the main catalog for the Vanderbilt libraries.  Use ACORN to locate books, periodical titles (but not individual articles), government documents, scores, sound recordings, and other holdings in any Vanderbilt library.  You can search all nine libraries at once or specify a specific library for your search.  ACORN permits both very simple and highly complex searches.

DiscoverLibrary - Use to search simultaneously the library's catalog (Acorn) and the TV News Archive as well as a selection of databases.

DiscoverLibrary is a new search and discovery tool for mining the library's vast collection of resources. A simple search box will bring back results from a number of different sources, including Acorn, the library's catalog, and the Vanderbilt TV News Archive. Additionally, many of the library's online article databases are searchable through DiscoverLibrary on the secondary tab.

ATHENA - Use for finding items in one of the Nashville area libraries.

ATHENA is the catalog for the Nashville Area Library Alliance and includes Vanderbilt and 11 other Nashville area libraries, including the Nashville Public Library.  ATHENA allows the user to search the catalogs of all of these libraries simultaneously.  Vanderbilt-affiliated patrons can place direct Interlibrary Loan requests for expedited delivery of items held at other libraries.

KUDZU - Use for finding items in one of the southeastern regional research libraries.

KUDZU is a consortium catalog for 13 southeastern research libraries, including Vanderbilt, the University of Tennessee- Knoxville, and the University of Kentucky, as well as the Center for Research Libraries.  KUDZU allows the user to search the catalogs of all of these libraries simultaneously.  Vanderbilt-affiliated patrons can place Interlibrary Loan requests for materials held by the other libraries. Items held at University of Tennessee-Knoxville and the University of Kentucky are delivered on an expedited basis.

WORLDCAT - Use for finding items not available through ACORN, ATHENA or KUDZU.

WORLDCAT is a combined catalog of many of the world's libraries.  If an item cannot be located in either ACORN or in the regional catalogs (ATHENA or KUDZU) the next place to look is WORLDCAT.  WORLDCAT will indicate which libraries own the item, and the user can then link from the record of the item to Vanderbilt's Interlibrary Loan service.

LIB-WEB-CATS - Use to gain access to the library web pages and online catalogs of libraries around the world.

LIB-WEB-CATS is a search engine created by Vanderbilt'sMarshall Breeding.  It allows the user to search by institutional name, library type or geographic location to locate the web page and/or online catalog for over 5000 libraries around the world.

THEOLOGICAL ONLINE CATALOGS - Use if you want to look for catalogs of just theological libraries.

This database of theological library catalogs is maintained by the ATLA Technical Services Interest Group. It also provides breakdowns by denomination, as well as links to some international libraries.
