ACORN
- Use for finding a
book or other items in one of the Vanderbilt libraries.

ACORN is the main catalog for the
Vanderbilt libraries. Use ACORN to locate books, periodical
titles (but not individual articles), government documents,
scores, sound recordings, and other holdings in any Vanderbilt
library. You can search all nine libraries at once or specify
a specific library for your search. ACORN permits both very
simple and highly complex searches.

DiscoverLibrary
- Use to search simultaneously the library's catalog (Acorn) and the TV News Archive as well as a selection of databases.

DiscoverLibrary is a new search and discovery tool for mining the library's vast collection of resources. A simple search box will bring back results from a number of different sources, including Acorn, the library's catalog, and the Vanderbilt TV News Archive. Additionally, many of the library's online article databases are searchable through DiscoverLibrary on the secondary tab.

ATHENA
- Use for finding items
in one of the Nashville area libraries. |

ATHENA is the catalog for the Nashville
Area Library Alliance and includes Vanderbilt and 11 other Nashville
area libraries, including the Nashville Public Library. ATHENA
allows the user to search the catalogs of all of these libraries
simultaneously. Vanderbilt-affiliated patrons can place direct
Interlibrary Loan requests for expedited delivery of items held
at other libraries.

KUDZU
- Use for finding items in one of the southeastern
regional research libraries. |

KUDZU is a consortium catalog for 13 southeastern
research libraries, including Vanderbilt, the University of
Tennessee- Knoxville, and the University of Kentucky, as well
as the Center for Research Libraries. KUDZU allows the user
to search the catalogs of all of these libraries simultaneously.
Vanderbilt-affiliated patrons can place Interlibrary Loan requests
for materials held by the other libraries. Items held at University
of Tennessee-Knoxville and the University of Kentucky are delivered
on an expedited basis.

WORLDCAT
- Use for finding items
not available through ACORN, ATHENA or KUDZU. |
|
WORLDCAT
is a combined catalog of many of the world's libraries. If
an item cannot be located in either ACORN or in the regional
catalogs (ATHENA or KUDZU) the next place to look is WORLDCAT.
WORLDCAT will indicate which libraries own the item, and the
user can then link from the record of the item to Vanderbilt's
Interlibrary Loan service.

LIB-WEB-CATS is a search engine created
by Vanderbilt'sMarshall Breeding. It allows the user to search
by institutional name, library type or geographic location to
locate the web page and/or online catalog for over 5000 libraries
around the world.
